When Nashville-based DisastersNet came up with an idea that would help hospital safety officers, physicians and emergency management experts to comply with the Joint Commission’s requirements and federal standards for the National Incident Management System (NIMS), they came to us to turn their vision into a reality.

Solution:
Today, the DisastersNet Incident Management System allows hospitals and other industries to conduct training exercises and manage real-time emergencies in a clear, structured way. Every responder is provided up-to-the-minute critical information and clear steps to be accomplished — resulting in the most efficient mobilization possible of rescue professionals, hospitals, and other agencies.

Their concept, designed to standardize the level of response to local and national emergency situations, was translated — using Java, AJAX, Dojo and several other technologies — from a mock-up into a fully automated, web-based emergency management system. From a single browser window, users can utilize the real-time chat system, get immediate status updates for every responder on their team, and access any regulatory forms that would accompany a major incident.
