Collaboration with fitSync

fitSync LogoHave you ever sent out an email that was too big and got a message back reading: “undeliverable message,” or worse the message just didn’t go through? Do you need to be able to update a file, and have a number of other people access those updates instantly? Would you like to just be able to share a file with someone from a different company? Read on, I have the solution for you.

When email was designed back in 1971, it was set up to send short little snippets of text around. It is sometimes wondered if this primitive form of text messaging should be considered email. Think of how a telegraph works and you pretty much sum up the method that email uses to send stuff around the internet. Fast forward to 2015, and we are looking to do something else: send 13MB PDFs files or 5MB Excel files around. The issue? Email just wasn’t designed for big attachments.

Then there’s the next issue with email, version control. Here’s the story:

1. You receive a 22 page lease for your new office space. You know what I am talking about folks. 22 pages of legal jargon masking about 45 words of English.

2. You send an email with this lease out to a group of people including two team members and your attorney.

3. One of the team members reads it and responds to all with a quick change: you want 15 parking spots. Good catch.

4. Your attorney responds next with a number of concerns and changes, but misses the update from your team member who was likely working on the document at the same time.

Now you have a problem: you have two versions of the document in your mail box, and you have to merge them, then send out an updated copy to everyone. If you aren’t right on top of it, before you know it there are three version and so forth. Email just wasn’t designed for this type of collaboration.

At Dynamic Edge, we run into issues like this all the time. We spent a couple months looking for solutions, and just couldn’t come up with one that completely fi the bill, so we created one: this month we are introducing fitSync.

fitSync is a tool for collaboration, it allows you to share data with people inside and outside your organization while eliminating the hassles of having to deal with multiple project files being passed around all with different information.

If you are interested in fitSync, call our office and speak with Deb, she will get the ball rolling for you!
